SPAGNOLO BERNARDO
Main position:
Professor at the University of Palermo
Position in the laboratory:
Head of laboratory
Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Department of Physics and Chemistry Emilio Segre, Scientific Director of the Interdisciplinary Theoretical Physics Group (University of Palermo).
Member of EPS, APS and SIFS. Member of the Presidential Council of the Italian Physical Society. Director of the International School "Non-Equilibrium Phenomena", Ettore Majorana Center, Erice. He is a visiting professor at Lobachevsky University, Moscow State University, Humboldt University (Berlin), Max Planck Institute for Physics of Complex Systems (Dresden); Jagiellonian University (Poland).
The area of his scientific interests was initially the radiophysical approach for low-energy accelerators and the problem of the interaction of radiation with matter; and later - nonequilibrium statistical mechanics and physics of complex systems in classical and quantum systems. B. Snagnolo made outstanding contributions to the theory of noise, relaxation dynamics in metastable systems and interdisciplinary applications in biological systems and ecosystems.
Since 1980 B. Spagnolo has published over 200 articles and 4 volumes of special issues in various publications such as Physics Reports-Review Section of Physics Letters, Physical Review Letters, Scientific Reports-Nature, Physical Review Applied, Physical Review B, A, E, Communications in Nonlinear Science and Num. Simulations, Applied Physics Letters, JSTAT, Chaos Solitons & Fractals, Plos One.
Member of the Editorial Board, Physical Review. Editor of Chaos, Solitons & Fractals, Interdisciplinary Physics, Mathematical Problems in Engineering, member of the editorial board of Entropy. His extensive peer review work (77 journals), editorial contributions, and broad international academic activities have earned him the title of Distinguished Reviewer in Physical Review and Physical Review Letters, Chaos Soliton & Fractals, Physics Letters A, Physica A, Comm. in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation.
Coordinator of the international postgraduate study project at Lobachevsky University and Moscow State University since 2006. Coordinator and chief international researcher of the INTAS project "Nuclear Phenomena in Condensed Matter Physics and Complex Systems" between the University of Palermo, Humboldt University (Berlin), Moscow State University and Lobachevsky University (Russia) (2002-2004).
Principal investigator of many international and national research projects.
