StoLab scientists visited the largest and eighth Russian forum «Microelectronics»

StoLab scientists visited the largest and eighth Russian forum «Microelectronics» (October 02-08, Sochi, Rosa Khutor). The number of only registered participants amounted to 1710 people, which significantly exceeds the indicators of all previous years. Traditionally, the forum program included a rich business program, a demonstration zone, a scientific conference and a school for young scientists (held in Gurzuf from September 26 to October 1).

The Russian Microelectronics Forum is the leading discussion platform for dialogue between the Government of the Russian Federation, industrialists, developers, educational organizations and research centers in the strategically important and backbone microelectronics industry. With these words, the first plenary session of the forum was opened by Deputy Prime Ministers of the Russian Federation D.V. Manturov and D.N. Chernyshenko, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences G.Ya. Krasnikov, General Director of State Corporation «Roscosmos» Yu.I. Borisov, who spoke about the importance of the development of microelectronics as an integral part of the comprehensive work to achieve the technological sovereignty of our country in the new conditions. As noted in his face-to-face speech, Deputy Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation V.V. Shpak, against the backdrop of global transformation processes, it is necessary to remember new technologies, it is important not only to engage in reengineering and localization, but also to make breakthroughs in new scientific and technical directions, in which Russia is moving more than confidently. He spoke about the full-scale launch of programs for the development of electronic engineering, the development of their own CAD systems, and measures to support design centers and developers of electronic component base (ECB).

The second plenary session was devoted to one of the most pressing topics on the world agenda of scientific and technological progress «Artificial and hybrid intelligence: ECB based on new principles, algorithms, models and technologies», in which Lobachevsky University, including the StoLab, has an undoubted priority. Genuine interest and productive discussion of the forum participants were caused by the reports of the delegation from UNN: the reports of Vice-Rector for Research M.V. Ivanchenko on the topic «Reliable and logically transparent artificial intelligence: technologies and challenges», head of the Memristor Nanoelectronics Laboratory A.N. Mikhaylov on the topic «Neuroelectronics – intelligent neuromorphic and neurohybrid systems based on a new electronic component base», head of the Department of Neurotechnologies V.B. Kazantsev on the topic «Cellular neural interfaces: interaction of living brain neurons with microelectronic devices». These reports, in particular, presented the results of UNN interdisciplinary projects carried out at the Laboratory of advanced methods for high-dimensional data analysis and the Stochastic Multistable Systems Laboratory of UNN within the framework of Megagrants under the direction of the professor of the University of Leicester (United Kingdom) A.N. Gorban (agreement No. 14.Y26.31.0022, 2018-2022) and professor of the University of Palermo (Italy) B. Spagnolo (agreement No. 074-02-2018-330, 2018-2022) a major scientific project of the Ministry of Education and Science, a scientific program of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics (project «Artificial intelligence and big data in technical, industrial, natural and social systems»), as well as within the framework of the Russian Science Foundation project No. 21-11-00280.

A series of invited reports by leading UNN scientists was presented at section No. 10 «Neuromorphic Computing. Artificial Intelligence», including reports by Professor of the Department of Neurotechnologies I.V. Mukhina «Neurohybrid microelectronics for solving biomedical and information-computing problems», senior researcher of the Research and Educational Center for Physics of Solid State Nanostructures S.A. Shchanikov «Application of memristive devices for hardware acceleration of artificial neural network models», leading researcher of the Research and Educational Center for Physics of Solid State Nanostructures D.O. Filatov «Memristors based on SiGe epitaxial structures with Ag and Ru electrodes» and junior researcher of the Research and Educational Center for Physics of Solid State Nanostructures I.M. Kipelkin «Memristive model of the Neural Fitzhugh-Nagumo generator». Head of Research Laboratory of Materials for Quantum Technologies A.A. Konakov presented an invited report «New semiconductor materials for applications in micro- and nanoelectronics: digital design and ion-beam synthesis» at the new section No. 13 «Materials for micro- and nanoelectronics».

StoLab scientists held talks with numerous partners from universities, academic and research and production centers, the subject of which were current joint initiatives and prospects for the use of a new element base of information and computing systems based on the principles of functioning of elements of biological neural networks to support the development and mass implementation of artificial intelligence technologies, machine learning and medical neurotechnologies.
